EXPECTING A BABY IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS?
I'm a chocolate-loving nutritionist,
pre & postnatal coach, doula and let's face it- total birth nerd 🤓.
I'm here to help you cut through mommy-marketing and pinterest perfection to confidently cultivate a pregnancy and postpartum experience you totally love.
When we’re deep into the chilly, gray months of winter here in the Pacific Northwest, nothing is quite as warming to me as a nice, hot drink. But guzzling one coffee after another isn’t always the best idea. And while I love supporting my favorite local coffee shops, my bank account can’t handle shelling out $5+/day for my favorite lattes.
That’s why I try to have a stockpile of warm and nourishing drinks on hand that I can whip up in the comfort of my own kitchen. This spicy goldenmilk latte recipe has been my go-to one for the last couple of weeks. I put on my favorite fuzzy socks, grab my coziest blanket, turn on my favorite podcast, and sip this delightful warming drink. It’s the ultimate coziness, I promise.
Not only is this drink cozy AF, but it’s loaded with nutrients to help boost your immune system and keep you healthy and feeling great.
The star of this goldenmilk latte is the turmeric, of course. That’s what gives it its golden color! Turmeric is one of the most notable anti-inflammatory spices out there with high amounts of curcumin, a potent antioxidant. By adding in a pinch of black pepper – which contains the active ingredient piperine – this helps the body more easily absorb the curcumin. It’s a win-win.
Up to 80% of your immune system is in your gut, so it’s important that we have some gut-friendly ingredients in there. Collagen helps heal the gut and is an easily usable form of protein. A healthy gut is your first line of defense against ingested pathogens. I like this collagen powder!
We’ve also got both ginger and cinnamon in this latte. These warming spices add depth of flavor and nutrition. And if you like yours on the sweeter side, feel free to stir in some antioxidant-rich honey or stevia!
This goldenmilk latte is also a great option if you’re if you’re pregnant or postpartum. It’s a caffeine-free option and the nourishing ingredients are great option to add into your routine.
